Waipuna will perform live at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Kahilu Theatre in Waimea.
Drawing on strong musical roots, Kale Hannahs, David Kamakahi and Matthew Sproat have combined their eclectic musical experiences of the past 20 years to form their neo-traditional Hawaiian music group.
These Kamehameha graduates pride themselves on respectfully pushing the limits of traditional Hawaiian music while honoring the music of their predecessors. Their combination of instrumental prowess, strong harmonies and a passion for music has garnered them with eight Na Hoku Hanohano awards, including Island Music Album and Group of the Year in 2012, Single of the Year awards for 2012, 2013 and 2019, and the 2014 Extended Play (EP) album of the year.
